The possibility of home office and some required tools

Home office is the new digital workplace trend around. More and more workers stay at home and work from there, and this change is pushing companies towards improving safety and working conditions throughout their online space. To get the job done, home office workers need the right equipment and mentality. Today we talk about the requirements that are needed to be fulfilled for a proper home office experience.

Finding your comfort

When it comes to home office, there are some basic rules to follow. Working comfortably and effectively would be unimaginable without some guides to follow. First and foremost, always remember that your bedroom does not equal your workspace.

While this isn’t always practical, it’s best to have a dedicated space for work, and another for rest. The reason behind this, that it is very difficult to separate home and work life otherwise, and this can lead to mental challenges later. You probably don’t want to wake up with work staring you right in the face on a daily basis, and you probably want to be able to take your mind off work on your me-time, so give yourself separate spaces.

Appearance

When you are at home, you wish to wear comfortable clothes: probably your favorite PJs are one of your top choices. However, wearing proper outfits can have a strong effect on not just how others see you, but on how you see yourself. Eventually, you will have to take off your favorite sweatshirt and get into some real clothes, as will have to interact with clients, suppliers, and colleagues either through a video call or in person.

The right equipment

A strong WIFI router is a must have, as slow or spotty connectivity can be frustrating for you and your clients when having video calls, or working together on shared documents. Proper computer, a good quality monitor, and place for storing your data is also essential when working from home. Not to mention a comfortable chair, a nice desk, and some good quality tea or coffee to get you through the workday. Do not forget about the right amount of office supplies, some stress balls or other toys for your table, and something to make it warm and cozy, like a picture you love, or a “home” office plant.

Proper data storage

If you work from home, you and your colleagues will need to have access to the same documentation and data. A secure way to do so is to invest in a cloud-based document storage system. Avoid free solutions for office work, as they often have backdoors and so information can be stolen. Also, always make sure that the server parks are located in Europe, as the EU regulations are much stricter regarding data protection than other countries’ regulations. Cloud-based programs are allowing you to store your files for access anywhere, so it is also a great help when you want a backup of important files. Maybe one day your hard drive will crash, and when it does you'd better have a backup copy. If you have a home business you cannot afford to be without a backup copy of your computer.

DocuBank is a cloud-based operation, offering both safe and comfortable solutions for sharing and storing confidential data online. Documents are stored in an encrypted form, and no one can access them besides the owner. None of the uploaded data is shared with a third party and even system operators have no back-door connection to the stored files. Besides storing data, DocuBank also provides a convenient way for managing documents. It is easy to set up, and simple to use, getting familiar with the program takes about half an hour.

The most important reason for using a safe online storage system like DocuBank comes down to security. Even for everyday situations, it is important to see that making our online documents safe should always come first.
